ECP Cattle

For five generations, the Propp family has been dedicated to raising cattle in Northeast Oklahoma. Located just 45 minutes from Tulsa, our ECP Cattle herd is built on strong production and phenotypical genetics, practical cow families and a commitment to building cattle that work in both the show ring and the pasture. Year round we offer a wide selection of females, bulls and show prospects to suit a variety of needs.

Outside of the cattle operation, Ethan is an assistant golf professional at Shangri-La Golf Club and Resort in Afton, OK. Prior to that position, he served as the livestock judging team coach and the introduction to animal sciences lab coordinator at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL as well as an agricultural education instructor at Locust Grove, OK.

Ethan received his animal science bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University and his associate’s degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College. Collegiately he was a member of both the horse and the livestock judging team at both institutions.

My name is Ethan Propp, and I am a fifth generation cattle rancher from Northeast Oklahoma in a town called Adair. Our family still owns the original eighty acres that the Cherokee nation allotted us around the time of statehood. The operation is currently ran by my grandfather, Bill Propp who is ninety-three years old, my father, Chell Propp who is also a DVM, and myself. We primarily run fall calving Sim-Angus crossbred cows, however in 2015, I decided to start developing my purebred Charolais operation, ECP Cattle. ECP is not only my initials, Ethan Chell Propp, but it also stands for the terms, Elite, Consistent, and Progressive. My family has used Charolais bulls for many years, and even purchased bulls from Jerry Litton in the sixties and seventies. I have always been fond of the breed and the purebred segment of our industry. After high school, I attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and Oklahoma State University where I was a member of both the horse and the livestock judging teams. After receiving my bachelor’s degree in animal science, I served as the livestock judging team coach and intro to animal science lab coordinator at the University of Florida in Gainesville. After working in Florida for a year, I had the opportunity to move closer to home where I taught high school agriculture and was an FFA advisor in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. I was in that role for nine years. In the spring of 2026, I resigned from teaching to pursue a new career and took a job as an assistant golf pro at Shangri La Golf Club and Resort on Grand Lake where I am currently employed. There are four things that I am passionate about in life, my faith, my family, Charolais cattle, and golf. I would love the opportunity to become more involved within our breed, and now working in the hospitality industry, I have further seen the importance of customer service, clear communication, and a positive attitude. In an ever-evolving beef industry, it is evident that Charolais cattle can and will play an important role in supplying the globe with nutritious and wholesome beef. OCA 2025-2026 CLA Program

Ethan Propp was selected as a member of the 32nd class of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Leadership Academy

The OCA Cattlemen’s Leadership Academy (CLA) is targeted for beef producers ages 25 – 40. The program is designed to develop young members through industry exposure, education and communication. CLA consists of a series of four seminars designed to expose participants to leaders from all segments of the industry, including: purebred, cow-calf, backgrounding, dairy, feeding, processing, retail, foodservice, animal health, marketing, finance, etc. Essential to the overall program are industry issues sessions and business/financial management training. The seminars will provide participants the opportunity to further explore our business, gain essential information and network with fellow OCA members. Each year 20 OCA member/beef producers are selected through an online application process to participate. There is very minimal cost to participate; meals and lodging are covered by CLA Sponsors. This is an excellent opportunity to become a more informed and prepared future leader of the cattle industry. The CLA year runs from July to July.

Our commercial SimAngus cows are built on decades of our very own Propp family genetics. We select for fertility, maternal ability and production efficiency. Most of our herd fall calves, and we occasionally offer replacement females and bulls that fit commercial cattlemen’s needs throughout the year. These cattle are bred for the ever fluctuating Oklahoma environment while maintaining the balance of longevity and productive performance that ECP Cattle proudly stands for and expects from all of our animals.
